Layton, UT – Feb. 3, 2024 – Supporting local pantries and education foundations, Young Mazda of Ogden held their Cast-A-Spell on hunger event on Feb. 3.
“This is one of our dealership’s favorite traditions,” Ryan Albert, general manager at Young Mazda of Ogden said. “We’ve loved seeing the community’s involvement and we’re grateful to team up with so many phenomenal organizations to help those experiencing hunger.”
A wizardry-themed event, the dealership worked alongside the Children’s Treehouse Museum and the Young Caring for Our Young Foundation to gather food and monetary donations for Catholic Community Services, the Davis Education Foundation and the Ogden School Foundation.
Hundreds of families attended Cast-A-Spell on Hunger — which featured face painters, balloon artists, spell book making stations, storytellers and a vendor serving ButterBeer, a famous drink from the Harry Potter books. Along with the festivities, a drawing was held that gave attendees the chance to win a Nintendo Switch or Oculus Meta Quest 2 if they dressed like a wizard, submitted a coloring page or made a donation.
“One thing we love about Cast-A-Spell is that while it’s a charitable event, there’s a lot going on,” Albert said. “It’s a food drive where you can build meaningful family memories, and it’s an easy way to engage in a great cause.”
Along with what was collected at the event, Young Mazda donated $10,000 to help serve children in need at the Treehouse Museum as well as the Davis Education and Ogden School Foundations. The dealership will also be giving free oil changes to all Davis and Ogden School District employees that made a donation.
Young Mazda began holding Cast-A-Spell in 2017, and have dedicated their efforts to both hunger and teen homelessness at prior events. Last year, they began participating in Ogden’s Teacher of the Year ceremony — which provides Ogden School District’s most exceptional educator with free use of a vehicle for a year.
“Ogden has been welcoming home for the six years we’ve been here,” Albert said. “We’re appreciative of any time we can make an impact on the community, and can’t wait for our future service events.”
