We shouldn’t tackle every challenge the same. Each needs to viewed or handled in a different way. We need to have sufficient “tools” to allow us to gain, or grow, the most from every challenge. Have a Fantastic Day! It is the Best Day Ever!
With only a hammer, you tend to hit everything hard! We all need to get more tools in our box and learn which one is the correct one to use for the solution. Hammers are cold and heavy. And they hurt when you hit your thumb!
With a hammer you can pull out the obstacles in your way so you can move forward without them in your way. Sometimes when we are doing our daily tasks we have stumbling blocks that need to be removed in order for us to complete them.
Throughout my married life, I’ve always preferred to buy and learn to use tools to fix a problem, rather than hire someone else to do it. Those tools have come in handy over and over, and in ways I hadn’t before considered.
Read good articles, quotes and books. Choose to look at the positive rather than dwell on the negative. Learn to understand people, motivations, correct principles. These are the tools that enrich a life and allow one to be more productive and to have a greater influence on others.
We need to look outside our current talents and abilities to identify our weaknesses and turn them into strenghts. In any situation (Work, Marriage, Family) the more tools you have the better you will be able to help others and yourself. If all you have is a hammer you can only fix one or two problems. if you can expand your toolbox to include plyers, wrenches, screwdrivers and so on you can tackle any problem you are faced with… not just the nails in life.
If we let go of our comfort zone (the hammer) and toss it to the side, we will be amazed at the resources (tools) we encounter from within. Relying on the “same old – same old” is not only monotonous and boring, it creates a pattern that inhibits growth. Throw out all the “tools” and re-build the toolbox from scratch. Very empowering!
If we realize that we have the greatest tool of all; our minds, and if we put our minds to good use we find that the nail isn’t the obstacle, Its the object that binds. Its all about the perspective as to which we look at things…….
If our problems are nails, why are we only focused on the problems, and can we use the nails (problems) for better use or to learn from?
I grew up with my father as a general contractor and we basically had the entire Lowes hardware tool section in our garage, there was never a problem finding the right tool for the right job.
Let’s think outside the box of nails… Were hammers only created to beat the nail into a plank? No not at all. How many times have you used it for breaking, bending, moving, and removing objects? If you haven’t done any of those you probably don’t own a hammer.
My point is that if you only have a hammer as a tool, use your tool to create and not limit yourself to fixing the nail into the plank. We are all problem solvers, we have to be because things don’t always work out. But are we creators and builders?
Dynamics of self-actualization are broad and deep. Maybe the key to developing more tools to hammer problem is with in us. How do you view life?
Maslow once said “The ultimate goal of living is to attain personal growth and understanding. Only through constant self-improvement and self-understanding can an individual ever be truly happy”
So looking at the bright side of your nails(problems), you can do some pretty cool things with nails. Build stuff, hang pretty pictures. I think theres always a bright side to everything somehow! Make the best of it! 🙂
To me it sounds like you need to get some more tools in your toolbox so that you can find more solutions for other things rather than just the ones that you have the skillset to correct. Always keep moving forward learning and growing.
That reminded me of this video: It’s Not About the Nail. There is a world of possibilities for us, but we miss most of them by focusing on only one item.
With the proper hammer you can remove the nail (problem).
Sounds like he/she needs more tools. But… This person sounds like they would just find more problems

If I had a hammer & nails I would build something!!

My step dad used a hammer on everything. In fact his co-workers called him hammer!

Find a way to obtain more tools than just a hammer and then use them! trial and error always has a way of helping us succeed!
We need to hide some peoples “hammer”, its getting tired from over use.
There is never a substitute for the right tool! If the job calls for a hammer… use it!

Don’t forget, the nail can also be a tool.

I need to develop my tool box!
