Since 1978, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah has provided gold standard mentoring programs to children 6-17 years of age facing adversity. Children served by BBBSU meet regularly with the same volunteer mentor on a consistent and long-term basis, and every Big/Little match we make receives professional support from a trained Match Support Specialist. Mentoring increases the likelihood that disadvantaged children will break the cycles of poverty, underemployment, dependency, domestic violence, substance abuse and other social ills, and instead live happier, productive lives in our communities.
Currently we are facing a shortage of volunteers from Davis and Weber counties and are seeing a larger number of children from these areas on our waiting list. We are reaching out to volunteers willing to set aside even one hour a week to be a trusted friend to a Little Brother or Sister.
