Great point by Oz…I remember the pendulum at the old Hansen Planetarium (now at the Clark). I believe that in 24 hours at the North Pole a pendulum makes a full 360 rotation. I would assume that it stays at a fixed point at the equator because of the earth’s rotation.

Mike….very good thinking.
1. At the North Pole the pendulum would make a full rotation in 24 hours.
2. At the equator a full rotation would be infinity……hummmm, think about that for a second.
The full name of the physicist has not been claimed yet. A prize still awaits.
