The golden rule of excellence is this: Everything we say; every thought we entertain; and everything we do has a direction that serves as an advance or a retreat in respect to our pursuit of excellence. Everything—regardless of size of intent—has bottom-line consequences; therefore, everything counts.
No matter how we define excellence, it will always include exceptional quality, meticulous attention to details, uncompromising standards and superior craftsmanship fueled by love and passion. Excellence is respected and admired, and serves as the triumphant accomplishment of those unwilling to accept anything less than their absolute best.
From typos to tardiness, many people and organizations act as if details just don’t matter much. As a result, they treat customers poorly, deliver sloppy results, and show up both unprepared and late. While mission statements and service creeds extol excellence, quality, and consistency, customers tend to receive mediocrity, apathy, and incompetence.
If our business truly wants to create cult status with our customers, then we must embrace the Everything Counts! as our operational philosophy. Every element and detail matters, from the language used in our letters and emails, the language used with each other, to the standby music on our phone system to the download time from our Internet sites.
Likewise, in our personal lifes, no detail is too small to count; ask anyone on a diet. Each calorie-counting gesture counts and pays off in weight loss and a better awareness of healthy eating habits. In every part of your life, success is in the details.
What a wonderful time as we all get rolling on this new year. BIG things will happen to you this year. Press it and earn it and enjoy it.
I love ya all and I certainly appreciate all of your hard work, time, sweat, mental power and just taking care of each other and our customers.
