Good morning to you all. I trust you are enjoying all the experiences of life. I have a thought for you this morning.
My thought I share is “I protest aging”. I have said that many times as people my age or older complain about getting older and the aches, pains and the things they cannot do any longer.
I understand that but that is when I tell them “I protest”. Everyone else seems to be protesting something so I thought I would protest something.
I mentioned to a friend this past week that we should start a “getting younger club” as part of the protest. Where we participate in some of the following on a daily basis; Pomp, ennie eye over, catch, roller skating, flies up, 6ft rim basketball, red rover red rover, hide and seek, cap gun fights, making castles in the sand box and GI joes, coloring books, playing Risk marathon games and Monopoly marathons, picking a piece of grass and chewing on it, riding bikes with someone on the handle bars, skipping rocks in the pond, catching butterflies, walking to the drug store to get a malt and french fries with ketsup, swing, teter toter, going down a slide, going to a stomp, going on a date and sitting next to each other in the car, holding hands, buying a corsage for the dance, tennis and sitting on the court in the shade drinking a coke, having a sit down dinner with my family in my assigned seat, flag football and all and any things we use to do when we were young. I am sure you can think of many things you use to do when you were younger.
Now……why not. Can we not still do some of these things? To be young you need to think, act and do things that are youthful and young.
I protest aging by getting back to do some things I use to do when I was young. I do not like the saying…..”when you get older you put away the younger things you use to do”. Why? who made that rule…..and old guy I suppose.
What were some of the favorite things you use to do when you were young?
Hey, at least think about it. By protesting aging…..ya think young or younger. Don’t dwell on the older stuff, do something fun and exciting again. It breeds excitement, fun and energy. Even thinking about all this stuff I use to do as a child, makes me happy and excited. Try it and do it.
Hey, have a great youthful day. You can if you choose.
That’s my protest,
Love ya all,
sysr
Anything positive makes you feel Young and happy. We used to jump rope, play hop scotch, dodge ball, jacks, go swimming, water skiing, even just lazing about in the sun shine getting some rays!!! Thinking Young is Being Young!!!
Youth
Youth is not a time of life— it is a state of mind. It is not a matter of ripe cheeks, red lips, and supple knees; it is a temper of the will, a quality of the imagination.
Youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity, of the appetite of adventure over love of ease. This often exists in a man of fifty to seventy, more than in a boy of fifteen to twenty. Nobody grows old by merely living a number of years; people grow old only by deserting their highest ideals.
Years wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul.
Worry, doubt, self-distrust, fear and despair— these are the long years that bow the head and turn the growing spirit to dust.
Whether seventy or sixteen, there is in every being’s heart the love of wonder, the sweet amazement of the stars, and the star-like things and thoughts, the undaunted challenge of events, the unfailing child-like appetite for what next, and the joy and game of life.
You are as young as your faith and loyalty, as old as your doubt; as young as your self-confidence and courage, as old as your fear; as young as your hope and determination, as old as your despair.
In the central place of your heart there is a wireless station; so long as it receives messages of beauty, hope, cheer, grandeur, courage, and power from the earth, from men, and from the Infinite, so long are you young.
Ever remain young.
Believe it or not I miss the pack horse trips and camping! Nothing like watching your friend jacking up a Llama!! Miss those days……
Yes, all these thing are great. I loved racing BMX, three on three basket ball tournaments, bb gun war in the fields and wading in the canals. Those were the good old days, I may start htem again!
