Helping prepare children in need for winter, Young Automotive Group dealerships in Burley, Idaho donated 100 coats to Cassia and Minidoka county’s school districts on Nov. 16.
“Collectively, we’ve done everything we can to gather as many donations as possible,” Young Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram Fiat of Burley’s general manager Mike Gailey said. “Helping members of our community is a priority to us, and we’re thrilled to give coats to these children this winter.”
Keeping donation bins on their showroom floors, Young Powersports, Young Buick GMC and Young Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram Fiat of Burley gathered coats from Oct. 15-Nov. 15. The timing for their collection period was in line with the Utah-based initiative, Coates 4 Kids — an event held by the Coates 4 Kids Charity that the Young Automotive Group and Young Caring for Our Young Foundation participate in annually.
While Utah’s Young Automotive locations send their donations to the Coates 4 Kids Charity, dealerships in Idaho and Montana send the coats they’ve gathered to the schools and organizations of their choice. That said, they still work with the Young Caring for Our Young Foundation to gather donations.
“As a foundation, we strive to tackle issues related to children’s clothing needs,” the Young Caring for Our Young Foundation’s director Tami Olsen said. “We love working with the Coates 4 Kids Charity and our dealerships to help prepare kids for winter.”
The Young Automotive Group has helped with children’s clothing needs in Cassia and Minidoka county’s school districts in the past. Every summer, they participate in Julie’s Clothes for Kids — an event that supplies students in need with clothing for the first day of school.
They’ve also helped bring the Young Caring for Our Young Foundation’s KIND fund to Idaho, which uses educators to identify children who could benefit from clothing assistance and supplies volunteers with money to shop for the child.
“At Young Automotive, we strive to put the people in our communities first,” Gailey said. “Every time someone engages with one of our locations, we want them to know that they are a priority, and that they’re working with genuine people. These initiatives are tied to our identity, and help us deliver that message.”
