Marking the completion of a renovation project, Young Powersports Layton will host a ceremony to showcase the upgrades made to their dealership on July 17 at 12 p.m.
“This is a game changer for us,” said Justin Custis, general manager of Young Powersports Layton. “We’re so excited to give the public a first glance at what we’ve done, and engage with this community in a capacity outside of the showroom.”
Held at their location on Main Street, Young Powersports Layton’s celebration will feature food trucks and be attended by guests such as Layton city mayor Joy Petro as well as members of the Davis Chamber of Commerce.
Some of the dealership’s biggest upgrades include a new service area adjacent to the facility — which houses 10 mechanic bays. This has opened showroom floor space and allowed Young Powersports Layton to put more vehicles on display.
While these upgrades will improve processes, Custis says that one of the additions he’s most excited to show the public is a mural on the side of the dealership.
“This building has historic ties to the Layton community, and we wanted to find a way to showcase that,” Custis said. “We’ve created a landmark for the city, and it’s amazing to look at both from the street and road.”
Painted by Adrenaline Murals, the artwork features a mountainous landscape with “Layton” spelled out on the west side of the piece. Two motorcycle riders can also be seen, with one by a garage door near the back of the building. Adrenaline Murals has also hidden several Easter eggs on the wall. These include both a Chevrolet and USPS logo — an homage to the history of the building — as well as a swan princess, which is a tribute to one of the Young Automotive Group’s chairpeople.
In addition to those, individuals looking at the wall can find a “t,” which references a joke about how Layton locals forget the letter when they pronounce the city’s name.
“We knew this project had to both represent the city of Layton and feature a bit of edge for the powersports community,” said Jourdan Biesinger, founder of Adrenaline Murals. “We explored every design and color palette we could until Justin’s team was satisfied. Based on the incredible feedback we’ve gotten from the community, we know the hours spent were well worth it.”
The completion of this project coincides with the Young Automotive Group’s 100 year anniversary. A company that started with the establishment of a single location by Seldon “Jack” Olsen, the business has expanded into over 30 automotive and powersports franchises across Utah, Idaho and Montana.
Prior to housing Young Powersports Layton, the Main Street facility was once where one of the company’s earliest Chevrolet dealerships operated.
“It’s been incredible throughout 2024 to celebrate the Young Automotive Group’s 100 years of business,” said Custis. “I think this ceremony showcases how important both Davis County and the company have been for each other.”
This event is free and open to the public. See the flyer for more information:
