Receiving an unforgettable award, Ogden fire fighter Stephanie Fischer won a free, one year lease on a 2024 Ford F-150 during the fifth annual First Responder of the Year event at Young Ford Ogden on July 17.
“It shows how much we’re appreciated, and that it’s amazing that we have local companies and businesses that support us,” Fischer said. “Sometimes, we don’t see the greatest things and to have appreciation like this, it’s awesome.”
Fischer was awarded during a drawing at the dealership. Along with the vehicle, the firefighter received a $500 Maverik gas card as well as insurance from Goldenwest Credit Union.
An event honoring first responders across Ogden, Young Ford Ogden and the Young Caring for Our Young Foundation have held the giveaway since the start of the decade. Each year, they alternate between awarding a police officer and a firefighter. In 2023, officer James Williams won the award, and was featured during Ogden Pioneer Days.
“We’re honored to give something back to the people that do so much for our community,” said Jake Talbot, Young Ford Ogden’s general manager. “Ogden’s been a tremendous home for us, and that’s because of individuals like Fischer who are dedicated to protecting and bettering this city.”
Located on Wall Avenue, Young Ford Ogden first joined the Young Automotive Group in 2020. The dealership often facilitates the maintenance and support needs for the city’s fleet vehicles, such as police units, fire trucks and ambulances. Along with supporting first responders, they’ve participated in community projects as well — including work with the Ogden School Foundation’s family support center at Odyssey Elementary.
“Events like this are a reinforcement as to why I love Ogden,” Ogden mayor Ben Nadolski said. “We’re not a city, we’re a community. Events like this are what make the difference between a city and a community.”
Each dealership across the Young Automotive Group works with the Young Caring for Our Young Foundation on initiatives that give back to the community. Established in 2007, the foundation has provided over $6.5 million to various philanthropic organizations across Utah, Idaho and Montana since its inception.
“Young Ford Ogden has always been a great dealership to work with,” Tami Olsen, the director of the Young Caring for Our Young Foundation said. “They have a team that’s passionate about helping those in need, and regularly champion the Ogden community.”
Fischer will be featured during the upcoming Ogden Days of ‘47 rodeo.
