The Young Caring for Our Young Foundation today announced that the KIND Fund program has officially donated $1 million.

“Witnessing the growth of this initiative over the last three years has been nothing short of inspiring,” said Tami Olsen, director of Young Caring for Our Young. “We are extremely grateful for all of the exceptional supporters who’ve made this work possible. We know how much of a role the KIND Fund plays in helping children thrive in school, and we’re excited to continue expanding our reach.”
Designed to provide children and teens in need with new clothing, the KIND Fund has been championed by a variety of organizations, including AAA, America First Credit Union, Center Point Construction, DL Evans Bank, First Community Bank, KSL and the Young Automotive Group. To date, the program has served over 6,000 children across the Wasatch Front and southern Idaho.
An initiative that engages volunteers, donors and educators, each child aided by the KIND Fund is identified by a teacher who submits a request on a student’s behalf. A volunteer is then sent a $150 gift card to shop for clothing, and delivers the purchased items back to the school for the educator to deliver to the child. Prominent individuals such as first lady Abby Cox, Atlanta Falcons cornerback Clark Phillips III and the spouses of Utah’s legislators have all volunteered with the program in addition to thousands of individuals over the past 3 years.

In 2024, the foundation launched an app for the KIND Fund — made available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. The software allows users to request, donate and volunteer all from one place, as well as stay informed regarding the status of requests and needs in the program.
Recently, the KIND Fund expanded its reach to Provo, Nebo, Canyons, Salt Lake and Granite school districts. Young Caring for Our Young has also begun working with individuals at Hill Air Force Base and the Airman’s Attic to support military families in need.
“Our goal is to expand the reach of the KIND Fund as far as we can,” said Olsen. “The mission of our foundation is to build an army of good across all communities, and we know this program is capable of that. We’re incredibly excited to see these innovations take place, and can’t wait for the future.”
Founded by the Young Automotive Group’s innovations director, Oliver Young, and executive director, Tami Olsen, the KIND Fund began serving children in need in February 2022. All operations are overseen by the Young Caring for Our Young Foundation — which has donated nearly $7 million since the nonprofit’s inception eighteen years ago.
