Recognizing an exceptional educator with a significant surprise, Young Kia provided Lakeside Elementary teacher Hollie Fisher — who won Davis School District’s teacher of the year award — with an all-expenses paid, one-year lease on a new 2025 Kia Seltos on May 15.

News of Fisher’s accolade was announced during a morning school assembly. District assistant superintendent Logan Toone brought the fourth grade teacher on stage. The two were then joined by her family, Young Kia’s general manager, Dallin Breshears, and representatives from the Young Caring for Our Young Foundation, Davis School District, Marathon Petroleum Corporation and Goldenwest Credit Union. Following a brief speech, Breshears presented Fisher with keys as a screen behind them showed the vehicle. Cheers erupted from the crowd of students and faculty.
“I feel just totally honored and humbled because I work with the most amazing teachers at Lakeside Elementary,” said Fisher. “Throughout my entire career, I’ve had teachers that have mentored me and shaped me into the teacher that I am.”

Along with the lease, Fisher received gas for an entire year compliments of Marathon Petroleum Corporation and Maverik, as well as insurance offered by Goldenwest Credit Union. She plans to take the car on trips to Utah’s state parks this summer.
The effort — which was also contributed to by Kia America as well as the Davis Education Foundation — is Young Kia’s 12th teacher of the year giveaway since the tradition began in 2016. The dealership’s sister operation, Young Mazda Ogden, has hosted a similar initiative with Ogden School District since 2023, and recently surprised Ogden High School teacher Chris Davidson with a lease on a Mazda CX-70.
In addition to this annual effort, Young Kia will host their Stuff the Bus event this September — an endeavor that supports Head Start programs across the school district. News about the event will be delivered on thinkcaring.org.
“Opportunities to give back are valued by everyone at our dealership,” said Breshears. “It was incredibly touching to hear Mrs. Fisher’s class scream with excitement as we presented her with keys. She’s an important person in our community, and it was amazing to be able to honor her today.”
