In Richard Bach’s Jonathan Livingston Seagull taught, “You are never given a dream without also being given the power to make it true.” Once you’ve dreamed it, you long to achieve the very best thing. Dare to dream that there is much more you can achieve.
When you do the best thing you are thinking about, planning for, and deeply desiring to become your best. “The greatest achievement was at first, and for time, a dream. The Oak sleeps in the acorn, the bird waits in the egg, and in the highest vision of the soul, a waking angel stirs.” wrote James Allen, author of As a Man Thinketh.
Wendy Farly said that desire “holds open the infinity of possibility”–and possibility lifts you to action instead of settling for a lesser outcome. The story is told of two shoe salespeople who are sent to Africa. After seeing the situation, the first salesperson sends a message: “Situation hopeless”. They have no shoes!”
The second salesperson surveys the same situation, and sends a different message: “Situation is glorious, huge sales imminent. They have no shoes!” Desire begins with the ability to see possibility.
“Desire is the key to motivation,” said Indy 500 champion Mario Andretti, “but it’s determination and commitment to and unrelenting pursuit of a goal–commitment to excellence –that will enable you to attain the success you seek” Desire becomes motivation when you make doing the best thing for your vision and goal. Until you can”see”yourself doing the best thing, your desire is dormant.
Napoleon Hill said, a deep “desire is the starting point of all achievement, not a hope, not a wish, but a keen pulsating desire which transcends everything.”
The desire to do the best thing and achieve your goals grow out of a combined attitude of “want to” and “can”.
In a few days we reset to another year and can evaluate, dream, put in writing, and set to action the infinite possibilities that will or can await you and your achievements. I love this time of year to re-evaluate where I am and where I want to go. I hope you do.
I will be sharing my goal setting techniques and action strategy programs at the Chevrolet store on January 9th for the Chev sales staff. If you have a desire to learn how to do this with more conviction, more determination, with a more step by step strategy…..please let me know and I will try and make time for you and your team to share what has helped me continue to strive for more, bigger, better, higher.
You have infinite possibilities ……DO NOT SHORT CHANGE YOURSELF.
Excitedly looking forward to the exceptional New Year coming at us all.

I find myself at times “not being able to see the forest for the trees”, thanks again for keeping things in perspective and inspiring us to greatness!
We here at Subaru are supremely interested in hearing this same talk on goal setting and how to take action to achieve these goals. How are we able to reserve time with you?
