Telehealth Services from Intermountain Connect CareSM
Intermountain Healthcare® and SelectHealth® are offering Intermountain Connect Care, a telehealth service designed to help patients get affordable, convenient, quality care.
Telehealth visits can be held from a smartphone, tablet, or computer and will provide urgent care 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. The types of conditions best handled by telehealth include:
- Sinus infections
- Upper respiratory infections (e.g., bronchitis)
- Sore throat, runny nose, or other cold symptoms
- Urinary tract infections
- Low back and joint pain
To access this service, patients can use the Intermountain Health Hub app, download the Connect Care app, or visit intermountainconnectcare.org. They’ll enter some key information, and visits will be conducted in real time using a HIPAA-compliant audio and video connection. Clinicians can prescribe medications during a visit, and no referral is required. The member will pay $49 at the time of service. After processing of the claim, Intermountain will refund the patient any cost beyond their responsibility per their specific plan per visit. Member responsibility will be calculated according to the plan’s Intermountain InstaCare® or urgent care benefit—deductibles, copays, or coinsurance may apply.
The service are staffed by Intermountain Medical Group nurse practitioners and physician’s assistants, and follow Intermountain’s evidence-based standards, including antibiotic stewardship and pain medication protocols. Connect Care clinicians ensure quality of care by documenting all visits in the Intermountain electronic medical record system.
Patients will be referred back to their primary care physician or an InstaCare when appropriate, and those with emergency needs will be directed to the nearest emergency room. Patients will also be provided with a record of their interaction by email, which they can share with any providers they choose.
