Supporting survivors of domestic violence, Young Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram of Layton and the Young Caring for Our Young Foundation are holding their Stuff Our Truck Beds event at the Young Automotive Group’s headquarters on Feb. 24 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
“Our foundation is dedicated to strengthening children and families,” Tami Olsen, the director of Young Caring for Our Young said. “We’re grateful for this opportunity to provide resources to people who have experienced domestic violence.”
Young Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram of Layton is currently collecting new household items and non-perishable food contributions at their dealership. The donations will be packed in truck beds and sent to the Safe Harbor Crisis Center during the event.
Held in the gallery of the Young Automotive Group’s new headquarters in Layton, Stuff Our Truck Beds will feature face painters, balloon artists, games, treats and food trucks.
Along with the festivities, employees from the Young Automotive Group will collect household donations and work with the non-profit Sleep In Heavenly Peace to assemble 30 beds for Safe Harbor.
“This is something our dealership has been looking forward to,” Jacob Sobers, the general manager of Young Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram of Layton said. “Safe Harbor is an essential resource for the Layton and Kaysville communities, so when an opportunity came to help them, we jumped on it.”
Other Layton businesses have contributed for the event as well. The NPS Store recently made sizable donations consisting of multiple items, including car seats, play tables, toy bins, brooms, furniture, clothing, books and cribs.
A non-profit created by the Young Automotive Group, the Young Caring for Our Young Foundation works with the organization’s dealerships to host charitable events and support communities. Last year, they teamed up with Young Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram of Layton to assemble 5,000 meal kits for the Davis Education Foundation’s pantry pack program — which helps keep children facing food scarcity fed during times they aren’t in school.
“Young Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram of Layton has been an incredible partner for our foundation,” Olsen said. “They’re team is known for going above and beyond at our events, and their efforts are extremely appreciated.”
Stuff Our Truck Beds is free to attend. Donations for the event will be accepted until Feb. 26 at Young Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram of Layton’s dealership on 1234 North Main Street in Layton.
